From the first car to the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Le Mans traces its history back to the invention of the automobile, when Amédée Bollée made a drive from Paris to Le Mans in 1875. This founder mechanic in Le Mans was the first to apply the steam engine to road transport. The first Grand Prix of the Automobile Club de France takes place in 1906 along the triangle Le Mans / La Ferté-Bernard / Saint-Calais: this is the Sarthe circuit. It provides the Sarthe with an international notoriety and the taste for motor racing.
From April to october, this mythical event in the racing world, tests the drivers' skill, the cars' performance and the endurance of both.

Le Mans «Sunset Boulevard»
The district of Saint Nicolas, Le Mans’ shopping area, pays homage to its heroes. More than 20 bronze plates laid in the ground bear the imprints of many winners of the race. Give your afternoon shopping an air of 24 Hours!
