The Forest of Sillé-le-Guillaume

AccueilLiens favorisÉcrivez-nousPlan du site

The Forest was the former property of the barons de Sillé and it became a state-owned forest in 1925. Since the end of the 16th century, the forest was exploited to provide charcoal, for the metallurgical industry.

The most emblematic sites in the Forest are Le Saut du Cerf, Rochebrune, le Gros Roc... Owing to their dominant location, these sites offer breathtaking views over the countryside of Haute Sarthe. In the heart of this massive forest, a 32 hectare lake is an excellent spot for nautical activities: swimming, pedalos, sailing, canoe-kayak, fishing... You can also take up rock climbing on sites at Rochebrune or experience hang gliding, hiking, mountain biking, pony trekking...
