The hillsides of the Loir Valley

AccueilLiens favorisÉcrivez-nousPlan du site

The vineyards

Nestling in the south of Sarthe, the valley follows the lenght of the Loir river, while its heart beats in the Forest of Bercé. Vinayards take advantage of their south-facing hillside position and the climate of southern Sarthe, to produce some precious nectar, such as Jasnières or Coteaux du Loir, referenced as AOC wines. In the Loir Valley, the warmth of the climate, the delicious food, the abundant heritage and the brilliance of the tufa rock in the troglodytes offer an ideal combination for a perfect break.

Discover the Loir Valley:

On foot.
this region has numerous waymarked lon distance paths (Grande Randonnée, 'GR'). It is also criss-crossed by many walking and trekking paths (Petite Randonnée, 'PR') detailed in FFRP topoguides. Ask the Tourist Offices of the Loir Valley for advice.
By bicycle. Over 55 km of cycle paths run alongside the Loir river, punctuated with theme consoles on landscapes, fauna and flora. Greenpaths, surface routes with safety protection on old railway tracks, link La Flèche to the zoo (3.5 km), and le Lude to Luché-Pringé (8 km). The Forest of Bercé offers 280 km of waymarked itineraries.
On horseback. With the high point being the Forest of Bercé, which offers riders a loop circuit of 40 km, with tree itineraries.
By canoe. The Loir is particularly well suited to the practice of canoeing. Approved organisations offer equipment hire, introduction at all levels and supervised trips.
