The Loir rises twenty kilometres west of Chartres. It then crosses the south of Eure-et-Loir, Loir-et-Cher, Sarthe and Anjou over a distance of 200 km. The main part of the valley lies in sarthe, between the villages of Poncé-sur-le-Loir and Bazouges-sur-le-Loir, two magnificient gateways to the Department, with their beautiful chateaux, which these two communes guard jealously.
Discover the Loir River: By canoe, the Loir is a calm, verdant river, particularly well suited to the practice of canoeing. On free form or defined itineraries, you will discover an often hidden and litlle-known heritage along the river... There are various canoing professionals on the irver, they will be delighted to introduce you the art of canoeing safely. Fishing on the Loir Starting with the Loir, a slow-flowing river interspersed with fast currents. It is classed as second-category fishing water upstream, then in the public domain downstream of «La Pointe» until reaching its confluence with the Sarthe. Here you will tease roach, bleak, bream, carp, tench, perch, zander, pike and catfish! In the leisure bases, Lovers of jet ski, beginners or experienced in groups or solo, can benefit from the shrewd advice of quality monitor at the trois Lacs lake in Couture-sur-Loir. The lakes at Marçon and La Flèche are well-known for sailing, in one or two person centre-boarders, catamarans, optimists or wind surfers, whatever your level of skill.
