 La Ferté Bernard |
The Pays du Perche Sarthois occupies the eastern border of Sarthe. It is a land of countryside and forests… the variety of landscapes will seduce lovers of nature and hiking. The Perche Sarthois is also a land of waters… The waterways generously bathe the “Little Venice of the West” and the many water mills will certainly charm you. Here, the landscape is relatively hilly, with much bocage, apart from the areas around the Huisne Valley, which are covered by expanses of flat and green grasslands. Nature is both an exceptional heritage and the opportunity for memorable rambling... A land rich in arts and traditions, strongly marked by the 19th century. The Perche sarthois is also the second «Region of Art and History» in Western Loire.
Discover the Perche Sarthois:
Hiking, the best way to discover the privacy of the Perche Sarthois… At each turn of the road, discover castles, manors and churches… A guide of the hikes and walks in the Perche Sarthois is available in all of the Tourist Offices. Discover the charm of riding in a small boat on the numerous canals of La Ferté Bernard, where small bridges and washing basins trickle along at the edge of the water. These silent electric boats will transport you into an ocean of green in the midst of wild ducks. Don’t miss the dusk until midnight and the evening cries of a rutting stag, near the farms of La Haie, Villaines and La Gonais.
